Kids of Incarcerated Parents (K.I.P.) Care Program
OUR HISTORY
The Second Chances program established the Kids of Incarcerated Parents (KIP) Care program component in 2001. This component was established to help children who have experienced an absentee parent due to incarceration. The program staff works closely with the families to break the cycle of generational incarceration. The program is open to children between the ages of 5-17 who have fathers and/or mothers with non-violent felonies and/or misdemeanors convictions.
OUR VISION
- Work with students and parents to ehance academic achievement by providing both individual and group sessions. Engage children through community service oppurtunities, projects and monthly workshops. Provide parents and caregivers with services and resources (i.e. workshops and seminars). Provide children with workshops on goal setting and decision making for financial literacy and healthy relationships.
